Patrick Chiu – a physiotherapist at painPRO Clinics City Square location in Vancouver – enjoys helping his clients achieve effective and efficient treatment in order to feel more confident with movement. He obtained his Master’s in Physical Therapy and Bachelor’s in Kinesiology at UBC and is currently completing his Doctorates in Physical Therapy. His experience includes working with sports injuries, chronic pain, return to work, and motor vehicle accident clients. As an avid basketball player who suffered numerous injuries, Patrick found his passion in orthopaedic rehabilitation.
He is motivated to empower his clients to reach their personal goals through hands-on treatment, individualised exercise prescription, and education on injury prevention. His treatment philosophy aims to consider the body as a whole instead of individual body parts.
Patrick has taken post-graduate courses to advance his treatment skills such as Functional Dry Needling/Intramuscular Stimulation, mobilisations with movement, and soft tissue release. Also, he completed his Canadian Physiotherapy Association Orthopedic Division Level 1 certification. He is currently undergoing further advanced training in management of lower extremity disorders.
Outside the clinic, Patrick can be found instructing Anatomy and Physiology at Langara, playing basketball, coaching high school basketball, playing tennis, running, weight lifting, and hiking.
