Ellen is a graduate of the Master of Physical Therapy program and a current PhD student at the University of British Columbia. As a clinician-scientist, she integrates clinical training, academic research, advocacy, and lived experience into her practice. Ellen holds a BSc and MSc in Kinesiology from the University of Waterloo, where her research focused on supporting older adults with chronic conditions and mobility challenges. She has completed BoneFit training and brings more than six years of experience teaching dance, yoga, and fitness.

Her work at UBC/Arthritis Research Canada has centered on promoting physical activity for people living with arthritis and exploring what it means for research to be genuinely patient- and public-led. Ellen also co-teaches rheumatology in the Department of Physical Therapy at UBC. Beyond academia, she serves as Programs Coordinator at Arthritis Consumer Experts, collaborating with researchers, clinicians, and patient partners to improve access to evidence-informed resources. She is also a board member of the Sjögren’s Society of Canada, a national charitable organization.
