Lester Syyong B.Sc. Kin, MPT
Practicing Since
2016
Lester holds a Master of Physiotherapy with Distinction from the University of Sydney and a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from Simon Fraser University. He recently moved back to British Columbia after working at a busy private clinic over the last year in Sydney, Australia.
Lester has a profound passion for helping people and encouraging them to contribute to their own recovery from injury. This passion began when he was forced to the sidelines following long-term injuries from university-level volleyball and competitive basketball. As both a physiotherapist and an avid athlete, Lester takes the time with each individual to find the root cause of the problem and addresses their immediate concerns while also focusing on prevention of future issues.
His clinical practice involves a combination of manual therapy, soft tissue work, education and exercise prescription specific to each individual. He has taken multiple courses to further his professional development, and is always eager to learn more with the goal of providing high quality care to his patients through evidence-based practice. Lester enjoys treating all musculoskeletal and sports injuries, but has a strong interest in those who suffer from chronic headaches and migraines. He recently attended the Watson Headache Institute Level 1 and 2 courses taught by Dr. Dean Watson, who created an innovative approach regarding management of the upper cervical spine in headaches and migraines. Lester has seen significant results firsthand using the Watson approach on his patients, and the positive impact it can have on their quality of life.
Lester has also taken his passion overseas, spending time volunteering in Peru to aid in providing high-quality treatment to the less fortunate. When not working, he can be found on the court playing basketball and volleyball, jamming out on the guitar, and satisfying his coffee connoisseur taste buds at the best cafes in Vancouver.
