What is Registered Acupuncture (R.Ac.)?
The profession of Registered Acupuncture, also known as Acupuncture, has evolved to become a primary healthcare modality in Canada. The Acupuncture profession in BC is regulated by the College of Traditional Chinese Medicine & Acupuncture of British Columbia (CTMCA).
The Acupuncture profession involves multiple interventions for the treatment and prevention of physical pain and dysfunction. The basis of acupuncture is to stimulate the body’s biochemical healing abilities. There are several biochemicals that the art of acupuncture can help help with:
- Endorphin Release – helps block the perception of pain
- Serotonin Release – this helps with both mental and physical factors. It helps with muscle relaxation, emotional unrest, and wound healing.
- Adenosine Release – this acts as a powerful anti-inflammatory and produces an analgesic effect during treatment
Why Use a Registered Acupuncturist (R.Ac.)?
Healthcare professionals with the designation Registered Acupuncture have completed a 1,900 hours of post graduate stdies from an accredited Canadian Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture College. The basis of the educational curriculum is centered on evidence-informed solutions to physical and emotional imbalances that negatively impacts an individual’s life.
In addition to having minimum passing grades the Acupuncture designation, R.Ac., requires 450 hours of supervised clinical practice.
